I will give you thanks, for you answered me;
you have become my salvation.
The Lord is our salvation, delivering us from the
penalty of sin. Express your gratitude for specific
instances of redemption in your life.
I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with
thanksgiving. This will please the Lord more than an
ox, more than a bull with its horns and hooves.
Although a traditional Jewish method of pleasing the
Lord was through animal sacrifice, King David
suggests God desires relationship more than ritual.
Journal the ways the Lord is requesting more of your
heart for worship rather than time for works.
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 15:56-57
Jesus Christ is powerful and victorious! Thank Him for specific sins He has delivered you from and how your life has been changed.

Previous: Day 1
Darkness accompanied the stillness of the early morning hours as I willed my tired mind to focus. With hot, caffeinated coffee in hand, I took my usual place on the couch, and opened my bible app. I longed for encouragement. Inspiration to lean on when the busyness of life overwhelmed me.
The verse of the day was in 2 Peter, so I turned there. “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (v 7) I’ve read this verse many times, but it spoke differently this time. The latter part, because He cares for me, stood out. It was as if God wanted me to recognize to sole reason He lifts my burdens: He cares for me.
Have you considered how much the Lord cares for you? Meditating on the truth of this verse ushered in a feeling of comfort, which led to appreciation. As I began to pray, thanking God for all He is doing in my life, the anxiety lifted from my chest. My spirit lightened as I realized angst and thanks cannot co-exist. No matter what is going on in our lives, there is always something to be thankful for!
The Bible mentions thanks, thankful, and thanksgiving over 130 times, most referenced in conjunction with praise. The Hebrew name for thanksgiving Todah, as noted in the image above and has provided inspiration on this topic.
It is good to be thankful every day, but I’d like to take the opportunity to promote gratitude each day of November. A short verse followed by contemplative questions for journaling or simply commenting on. I hope you enjoy these posts as much as I enjoyed putting them together!
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
Attending church can often feel like a task to check off a to-do list. We may be rushing to arrive on time, frazzled by what has already transpired in the first few hours of the day. What might it look like to prepare your heart with praise and thanksgiving prior to entering the house of the Lord?
